Fight Back!

Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects predominately dopamine-producing (“dopaminergic”) neurons in the brain.

Rock Steady Boxing is a non-contact boxing program designed specifically for people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) to help maintain and improve overall quality of life.

Forest Hill Health & Fitness is the only gym in Harford County that offers RSB for FREE to people with PD! We have a team of Certified Trainers, Coaches and Volunteers that provide quality workouts to help improve balance, hand-eye coordination, social skills, boxing and MUCH more! We currently offer 6  boxing classes for all levels each week.

If you have been newly diagnosed or battling for years, we highly encourage you to stop in, watch a class, and speak with one of our Coaches about the program. We are sure you will leave feeling motivated and willing to join us as we “FIGHT BACK” against PD!

What Our Boxers Have To Say:

I have been a participant in the Rock Steady Boxing program at Forest Hill Health & Fitness for 5 years, Not only is the program lead by Tyler, Debbie and Don important to me physically, the emotional support is equally important. The classes are challenging and professionally planned providing exercise to delay the symptoms of PD. Personally I have had my medicationg regime decreased since starting RSB. I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to participate in RSB!

My journey living with Parkinson’s Disease began in 2015 with my diagnosis, which I greeted with disbelief, despair and denial.  It was not until I started coming to RSB classes at FHHF that I began to feel better about myself and make progress.  Our coaches are outstanding!  They plays killer music, and provides a new, fun, and rigorous workout every class that challenges us.  The classes are always working to improving our athleticism, cardio, core, balance and cognitive condition.  The results have been spectacular.  I am more confident, my balance and flexibility have improved, my memory and cognition are noticeably better as well.  RSB has introduced me to a great new support system and a wonderful group of people who share camaraderie, and friendship.

Rock Steady Boxing has been a part of my life eqully as long as my Parkinson’s diagnosis. I was fortunate to have found the program at FHHF mere weeks after being diagnosed and, as a result, my progression of the disease as been very slow. RSB is such a blessing in my life. I have met the most wonderful people, both fellow boxers and coaches. Our coaches have trained and led us to heights beyond what we believe we could do . RSB has made me stronger both physically and emotionally, but most of all, taught me to fight back!
